Sassano Italians who settled in Chicago from 1893 until the late 1950s lived on Federal Street (formerly Armour Avenue). Because the properties along 4700–5100 S Federal Street were purchased by the Chicago Housing Authority to build the Robert Taylor Homes, the PINs (Permanent Index Numbers) for that real estate no longer exist — the tract and deed records below are what's left of the paper trail.
